If someone were to ask you what your favorite Christmas memory is what would you tell them? Maybe it would be difficult to come up with just one because you have had so many wonderful Christmas memories to treasure over the years. Or maybe Christmas for you is not about good memories because of a traumatic event that happened on or near the holiday. Our staff has shared their favorite memory in this newsletter.
The last decade or so we have seen many attempts to remove or at least minimize this important season for Christians. It’s true that some of what we see and hear in regard to Christmas has little or nothing to do with the real “reason for the season”.
I choose to not dwell on the things that are being argued about in the media. I choose to look at the Scripture and read the amazing story of Christ’s birth. His coming was prophesied centuries before his humble beginnings in a manger. “Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel”. Isaiah 7:14
The nativity story is powerful and inspiring and is still changing lives today. We, as followers of this King of Kings, should be bold in our proclamation that Jesus came to dwell among us. He is God with us. A Dayspring Christmas Card expressed it this way, “Remember, the Word did not become a philosophy, a theory, or a concept to be discussed, debated or pondered. But the Word became a person to be followed, enjoyed and loved!
Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus coming to dwell among us is what these radio stations are all about. Not just the Christmas story as marvelous as that is but also His life and death and resurrection and His soon and imminent return. We are excited to be able to share this Good News across a large area of Central Minnesota.
You will read in this newsletter some of our Christmas specials we’ll broadcast in the next few weeks. Also please note that we are giving a special emphasis to Compassion International in December as we make you aware of many children around the world who need to be sponsored. Your sponsoring a child through Compassion International can change a life forever because their mission is to remove children from poverty in Jesus name. Over one million children are now being sponsored through Compassion International. We have worked with Compassion in the past and trust that you will prayerfully consider choosing a child to sponsor for the foreseeable future.
Our Compassion event will be on December 5th and 6th on both of our formats, The Word and The Pulse.
I hope that you will be able to listen to our stations over Thanksgiving and Christmas and as we enter a New Year. As we approach 2019 would you please prayerfully consider a Year End gift to the Word or the Pulse? Thank you for your financial gifts that enable us to continue to share the Good News.
Because of Jesus,
