Governor Tim Walz has officially announced that the 78th Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener will be hosted in Stillwater on the St. Croix River on May 8-9, 2026. This will be the first time the city of Stillwater has hosted the event, which serves to promote Minnesota's tourism industry and celebrate the state's fishing opportunities.
